AI consulting in Melbourne

Anum is an AI consulting and enablement firm in Melbourne. We find where AI is worth using in a business, put it inside the workflow your people already open every day, train them on it at their own desks, and measure whether it moved the number it was meant to move.

The work

Most AI consulting finishes at the advice. This finishes at the desk.

A roadmap is easy to produce and hard to act on. What a business actually needs is one workflow measurably better than it was, and the people who do that job still working the new way a month after the consultant has gone.

01

Discover

We sit with your people while they do their real work. Every team, not only the ones who volunteered. We write down where the week goes.

02

Prioritise

Every opportunity ranked by what it is worth and how hard it is. Anything AI should not touch comes off the list and goes on a separate one with a reason next to it.

03

Baseline

What the chosen workflows cost you today, in hours, error rates or turnaround. Without that number there is no honest way to say later whether it worked.

04

Govern

Accounts and access set up properly, and a one page AI use policy your staff will actually read: what they can use, what data never goes into a prompt, who is accountable for an output.

05

Implement

Usually the tools you already pay for, configured properly, with a prompt library, your own documents made searchable, and workflow automation between the systems you already have. Custom software where it is genuinely warranted, which is less often than you would think.

06

Pilot

One team runs it on live work before anyone else is asked to change how they work. Whatever breaks, breaks in front of us and in front of a small number of people.

07

Train

Not a classroom session. We sit beside people at their own desks, on their own jobs, until they can do it without us.

08

Measure and roll out

The same things measured again against the baseline, including anything that did not work, then out to the rest of the business.

Where we work

Melbourne, because the first step happens in the room.

Anum is a Melbourne technology company. ABN 80 697 129 525, registered 14 April 2026.

Being in the same city matters more for this work than it does for software. Discovery means watching a quote get built, a report get assembled, a month end get closed, with the person who does it sitting next to you. You cannot see where the time goes on a video call, because on a video call people show you the version of the process they think they run. So we do the observation and the training on site, across Melbourne and regional Victoria, and we do the parts that genuinely work remotely remotely: the readback, the reporting, the follow up sessions after a rollout.

Most of what we do is small business and mid sized work in Melbourne and across Victoria, and Victoria is where an AI consulting engagement with us is cheapest to run, because nobody is billing you for travel. We take work elsewhere in Australia too.

What this replaces

A salaried AI Enablement Lead in Melbourne is advertised at $166,939 to $191,084 a year.

That is a live Victorian public sector role, advertised August 2026. It is the work described on this page: finding the use cases, writing the policy, training the staff, and measuring whether any of it landed. Sitting on top of that salary are recruitment, onboarding, leave, equipment, the months it takes a new hire to learn your business, and the risk that the person you hired is the wrong one.

Large organisations create the role because the work is worth doing. A smaller business rarely needs it five days a week and almost never gets to justify the hire. Anum is that function for the part of the week you need it, starting the week you engage us rather than three months after you start recruiting.

Advertised range taken from AI Enablement & Capability Lead, Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner, August 2026. It matches the published Victorian Public Service grade 6.2 band effective 1 May 2026.

After the rollout

Then the Fractional AI Lead.

The pattern is the same in most businesses. Something gets implemented, it works, and then people leave, tools change, new use cases appear that nobody has time to look at, and eighteen months later everyone is back to the old way with an unused subscription. An ongoing AI function is what prevents that, and it is the part almost nobody sells.

On a retainer, Anum is that function:

  • New staff trained as they join, including everyone who arrives after the engagement ends.
  • The next use cases found and built as the business changes.
  • New tools and models assessed as they land, so you do not have to track it.
  • The AI use policy kept current as the rules and the technology move.
  • A written read, every quarter, on whether the AI spend is still earning.

Scoped around how much ongoing support you actually need, from monthly advisory through to regular days each week. Minimum three months, then month to month with 30 days notice either way.

We don't sell licences and we take no vendor commission, so a tool recommendation is only ever that.

The difference
We won't put AI into a workflow that shouldn't have it.

Some things need a person. Some data should not go near a model. Some processes are broken in a way that automation makes worse and faster. When that is the answer, that is the answer you get, in Discovery, before you have spent anything on a build.

The other difference is upstream of that. Our method is published, in full, before you speak to anyone: the eight steps above, the five patterns of AI a business actually uses, the questions we get asked, and a free guide. Most firms in this market put the method behind a booking form, which means you have to buy the call to find out what you would be buying.

The first step is a free 30 minute call. Nothing is paid before it and there is nothing to prepare for it. Discovery is scoped and priced in writing before it starts, and if it leads to a Rollout and you proceed within 60 days, we credit the Discovery fee towards the implementation. What AI enablement costs sets out every number we have, and why the price for our own work is agreed in writing per engagement rather than published.

If you want to see this on your own sector first: AI for small and medium businesses, professional services, or trades and wholesale.
